Body type: Hourglass
Lifestyle: From the moment we met, it was clear that she loves clothes and fashion. She had a closet filled with beautiful clothes and continued to buy more because she wasn’t sure how to create magic with her existing pieces so to keep things fresh, she would add to her collection. She’s a bold risk taker and loves getting dressed up. She and her husband have created a lifestyle that gives her lots of opportunities to express herself with style. Upon seeing her home, I promptly re-named her style words as “Art Gallery Owner.” When I said it, she exclaimed, “yes!” We found her style.
Approach: All styling is collaboration between the client and the personal stylist. In this case, Jenny was an enthusiastic participant who found that our sessions were a great way to relax from her stressful job as a physician. Her analytical and creative sides meant that the Poplin System’s clear guidelines would help her buy with intention and revamp her outfits regularly with or without new pieces.
In her words:
“I have always loved clothing, fashion and shopping, but I struggled with how to put things together and how to decide what to buy. Shopping and getting dressed felt hit or miss. I had had a disappointing experience with another stylist in the past. I felt like she didn’t try to understand my preferences, she encouraged me get rid of pieces I loved and ended up putting together expected and uninteresting outfits. I couldn’t really articulate my style but I knew this wasn’t it.
She also has given me so many tools and approaches to help me shop and put together outfits myself. I’m now wearing more of the clothes I already own, mixed with new pieces that either Mellicia or I found.”

Let the fun begin! We revised your words to just describe your style as, “Art Gallery Owner” because let’s face it, you are a curator of beautiful things. Taking your look to the next level involves elevating your pairings and for fun, we’ll add in some new pieces that inspire and delight. There’s a wide range of price points and styles, each one authentic to you. I threw in some extras gratis to offer more variety. And, my goal was to include a mix of new brands and retailers along with some old favorites (hello, Staud!). Enough talk, off we go!
First up, edgy and unique pieces speak to you. Honestly, between you and Justin and your travels, your jewelry collection is glorious and I can’t wait for the two of you to add more. So, items needed to REALLY speak to me to include them on the list. This first option is from one of my favs, Coperni. (The brand is responsible for my black heart bag.) This is a very out of the box item, but you can rest assured, people will be asking you about it. (Obviously, it’s not a work choice, but it’s sure to turn heads at your various events, especially at SAM.)
Try that super edgy and out of the box option with a classic, elevated go-to from Staud. This high quality piece is a nod to your love of classic, timeless pieces and is ideal to mix and match with wild or expressive items on this list and/or in your collection. Big fan.
Marimekko used to be my very favorite brand but the silouettes in the past few years have been disappointing. That’s why I was ELATED to find this a-line skirt with clean lines and an edgy yet whimsical print. You’ll love it throughout the year, but especially in the shoulder seasons. Try it with the Staud top and finish things off with an edgier piece. And yes! This outfit is work friendly.
Yes! Yes! Yes! Inspired by the Eames chair, this heel will change your life. Truly. It’s timeless and turns heads immediately. I like the neutral colors for you, but really, feel free to dive into any color combo that calls your name. Try these to finish off this super cool and functional outfit when you aren’t at work and discover that these work with a wide range of your other pieces. I expect you are a 39 and there are only a few left in that size, so grab this one first.
You’ve got a great eye for handbags so when I saw this statement bag, I knew I had to share it with you. Try it with the outfit below or really, the majority of this list. It’s classic, architectural, luxurious and on sale! Just right for your gallery owner style.
What could be sexier and more comfortable than this dress in Pima cotton?! You can also adjust the straps to wear it on the shoulder for more conservative situations. You’ll feel like you are wearing pajamas and look like a movie star. And with the pink bag and teal boots?! Ahhh! It’s all the things.
LOULOU STUDIO MARTIAL OFF SHOULDER DRESS . The Frankie Shop. $180. 100% Pima Cotton. Delicate Machine Wash. Hop on the waitlist for MIDNIGHT BORDEAUX.
Here they are! There’s only one size 39 left of these beauties, so dive on in! I love this store and I adore this color for you. It’s a neutral that will work with a wide variety of pieces in your new and existing collection. Plus, the heel is only 3.5 inches for a more practical situation indeed;)
ANNA PETROL ANNABELLE BOOT. Bona Drag. Was: $332. Now: $265. Only 1 size 39 left! 3.5 inch heel.
It’s time to get you a new denim jacket and there are absolutely classics to go with. I know you can find those on your own. So, I’m opting instead to suggest this very cool and understated designer item from Jacquemus. It’s on sale which is even better! The fitted style and classic wash will be easy to work with but the inventive buttons and the subtle logo which almost disappears will make it a beloved piece for sure.
JACQUEMUS Nimes denim jacket. The Outnet. Was: $730. Now: $292. Machine wash or dry clean. 100% Organic Cotton.
You’ll look incredible in a monochromatic neutral outfit. This expressive piece is just right for your style and of course, everything on this list is lovely on your figure. Dress this up or down depending on the situation. I love it with the pants below or a pair of jeans for a more casual approach. Layer it up with silk or leather to elevate your look.
How cool are these pants?! Look more closely at the fabric and you’ll be hooked, too. You’ll need to pre-order but I think it’s worth it.
Here’s something exciting. This super flattering dress is a slip on style in cotton so you’ll discover that is both beautiful and comfortable. Like the other items on this list, it’s easy to dress up or down and layer throughout the year for various situations. And, of course, it works with all the shoes or jewelry. How will you choose?
Giving you more choices for layering will help you mix up your outfits without needing a ton of new clothing. This fitted bomber is an investment, for sure. It’s on sale, so that’s helpful:) Bombers are typically so masculine and unflattering for your hourglass shape. However, this one is SO good for you and it’s a nice fresh style that works throughout the year. I’m for it. Try it over the black dress above, if you’d like and see how dreamy the cropped fitted shape pulls looks together. It also means that in the darker months you won’t need to sacrifice style to stay warm.
KHAITE Reggie cropped crinkled-shell bomber jacket. The Outnet. Was: $2,200. Now: $1,320. Hand wash or wet clean. 100% Polyamide. Made in Italy.
Finish off your look with these fun heels. Both colors are in your color palette and will make pairing these much easier than you might anticipate. Plus, they are feminine and classic enough to work year after year. And naturally, like all the glorious shoes I found today, they are in short supply. So, jump on it if they speak to you.
I have high hopes for this lightweight cropped denim jacket. Are you ready? It has boning like a corset! Right?! A super functional piece that you can wear for work or play, this shows off your shape and mixes with your new and existing collection. And again, it’s on super sale.
DION LEE Cropped denim jacket. The Outnet. Was: $980. Now: $441. Machine wash or dry clean. 100% Organic Cotton. Australian designer. Complete with internal boning and an angular hem.
Last but of course, not least, I couldn’t pass up these print shorts from Staud. Easy, casual and very expressive, here’s your Art Gallery owner on a Saturday getting things done.
And there you have it- Your very first Wishlist! I hope you love it as much as I loved creating it. Have a great time shopping and LMK how it goes!
